How do I begin?
It's happened to al of us. You're sat at your desk (Or wherever you write), you have an absoloutly mind-blowing idea in your head, you put pen to paper.....
And nothing happens. your mind goes blank and you've stopped at the first hurdle.
So, how can you put pen to paper and allow the ideas to flow?

The first page (Or verse, if you write poetry) is possibly the most important, you need to draw the reader in and make sure they want to read the rest.
I almost always start with something about the background of the story. Include some interesting facts, the etymology of a word (If I have included mythical creatures). Include a powerful sentance at the end of the first page, to make people read on.
Unless you have a really good idea for the first sentance, try to avoid starting the first sentance with 'I' or 'He/she'. This can become boring.
Try and make it unique, nobody wants to read something they've read half a dozen times before!
